Every month, in no particular order, this page will highlight one of the many artists who has contributed to the production and success of House of Chai productions. I’d love to include a page of links to all of the artists I admire, or even to just the ones I know and respect. But if I did, it would require a webpage that would scroll as much as the Torah!

House of Chai - Featured artist of the month
June 2008 - Tim Heitz

The fearless Tim Heitz screen left, dangerous bird of prey right. Sundance Film Festival 2006.

Super Power Guy, Tim Heitz, is the sole survivor of an alien race. His scientist father discovered that a nuclear chain reaction was building inside their planet that would soon shatter the entire world. His father therefore had his unborn son Tim-El removed from the Gestation Chambers and affixed the life matrix containing Tim-El to an experimental vessel for travel through hyperspace. His father launched the starcraft toward Earth just before their planet exploded.

The tiny rocket was found by a Missouri farming couple, Mr and Mrs. Heitz. They found the infant within the rocket and decided that they should adopt him. Named Tim Heitz, the child grew up in St. Louis, never knowing how his parents found him.

As Tim grew older his body began developing superhuman artistic abilities. When he was eighteen, his father took him to the field where his starcraft still lay hidden and explained how he and mother had found him. Tim resolved to use his powers from then on only for the good of mankind, and left St. Louis to study at San Jose State University.

Tim went on to do many amazing feats of artwork. Two of which include the Karate Dentist scene from Stoopid Movie!!!, and the birthing scene from Fumi and the Bad Luck Foot. This super-powered guy was to be able to do it all; animation, storyboard, layout, character design, CG work, you name it. But in addition to his great artistic talents, some of my favorites of Tim’s abilities were super-friendliness, super-helpfulness, and super-handsomeness. He’s blessed a countless number of people with these powers, and is truly one of the nicest people anyone could ever hope to meet!

Tim graduated from San Jose State and went directly to PDI/Dreamworks, where he’s been working ever since as a story artist on Madagascar 2 (in theaters November 7 th)!

It’s for these reasons the House of Chai hoists a damsel in distress high during the month of June in honor of Tim Heitz. Thanks Tim!!!
