I was fortunate to study animation with Jeff Biancalana at San Jose State University, and equally fortunate to work with him on several projects after school. He was top notch as a student, and his fantastic attitude and work ethic translated directly into his professional work.

Since school, Jeff’s worked at a number of places animating, directing, and working as a story artist; Curious Pictures, Wild Brain, Mondo Media (God and Devil Show, Happy Tree Friends), Leapfrog, and currently at Blue Sky Studio working on Horton Hears a Who.

Jeff was always there to help me during school, afterwards on my independent projects, and was nice enough to give me my first real animation industry job doing storyboards for three episodes of the God and Devil Show. He even posed as reference (fully clothed) for Flames of Passion!

Aside from being a super talented artist, he’s an all around nice guy and a great role model; 100% dedicated to his friends, family, and students. He has a passion for art and life that is inspirational. He attacks the day as aggressively and enthusiastically as he does any art project. One can’t help but feel charged up when they’re with him, and I feel it safe to claim that anyone who knows Jeff would say that he is the man.

It’s for these reasons that House of Chai extends its flaming torch high during the month of June in honor of Jeff Biancalana!
